Bacon is bacon...

At the Bacon Fest...
1. pic of bacon
2. pic of shrimp wrapped tacos in bacon
3. pic of cucumber with salt, lemon and chili powder the Mexican way :)

These pictures were taken last weekend at the bacon fest, but this post isn't really going to be about food but more personal.

I knew that as soon as we came here there would be a lot of changes, and some or a lot have been great, the hubby, kids and I are happy, we have a new place which is very nice and it's got all you want and more. All of that has been great!
I've realised though that I have changed a lot in the last 10 years I was in the UK, I became a bit more reserved, more private, I am not the sort of person that wants to tell you her whole life story in just the one go anymore, this time I will take a lot of time to open up to people. I don't have trust issues, I just took the English approach on keeping people and things close to my heart to myself and not to overshare. I've also become a bit protective of the country I left behind, I will not tolerate anyone trying to make fun of the UK, nor in their food, nor in the English accent. I had a woman say to me that English food was bland, I said she has no idea what she's talking about, and to reserve her ignorance, that's not just an insult to the Brit's but also to my husband who is an extremely talented chef and whose food is anything but bland. On the accent part...well that drives me up the wall, turns out all people want to imitate is '' bloody hell'' and not even the right way, I've told a few too many not to bother and to just bugger off. I know some people probably don't mean to be rude but I guess I'm not as tolerant to sillyness, thank you my lovely England, you have made a part of me very cut and dry ;)
Other thing that has changed and hadn't quite realised how much it affected me was my accent, turns out I've got quite a bit of an English accent, not the sort of Madonna-wanna-be British-way after 10 days in  London type, but the I-ve-been-in-North-England-for-10-years-way! Oh, Aye! I have to speak slower and I now feel I have to imitate the American accent in order to be completely understood. In the borderland that's kinda strange, given the main accent is the Hispanic followed by the American, and now you get a Hispanic girl, who speaks a weird mix of English-American and bits of Mexican accent.
Overall things are great, new things are coming up, new experiences, got the family and my awesome boys (little ones' and Hubby) who I can be myself with and talk how I please and share everything with without having to feel like I don't want too...

Also, big thank's to you all for sticking around, and following me on this new journey, who I'm more than happy to share with :D

Wishing you a lovely week!!!
